Rics 2009 resume
Dear colleagues,
The last RICS business year ending 31 July 2009 was again an extremely good one for RICS Europe. Despite - or should I say as a result of? - difficult economic conditions, we managed to grow the qualified membership from 2,979 to 3,637, the trainees from 1,191 to 1,593, and the students from 2,380 to 3,071. To achieve such growth, we organised 60 Final Assessment sessions for between 5 to 124 candidates in 20 countries.
In addition we made significant efforts to raise our profile in continental Europe. We counted over 2,300 articles in the press whilst at the same time significantly improving the quality of our media exposure (longer more in-depth articles, key publications, etc.).
I was also pleased to note that 342 members from Europe responded to the 2009 RICS membership survey. Members in Europe seem to be particularly satisfied with the professional knowledge, technical information and service provided by their respective National Groups.
A full update on our progress in the past business year will follow in a report which will be attached to the 2010 renewal notice on 10 November 2009.
